The Santa Fe Opera Guild pivoted in early 2020 to provide online programming. In the past sixteen months, we have presented:

Opera UnveiledOpera Virtually Unveiled, a series of four hour-long lectures about each of the productions on the Santa Fe Opera’s 2021 Season. All four sessions were presented by Desirée Mays, author of the Opera Unveiled book series and a noted opera expert who lectures at the Santa Fe Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, the San Francisco Opera, and many other companies. Her talk about The Lord of Cries featured interviews with Anthony Roth Costanzo and Mark Adamo, librettist for the world premiere work.

Virtual Vivace, a bi-monthly online book group devoted to the discussion of opera-related titles. These books included the literary sources for all four Santa Fe Opera 2021 season productions
Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Euripides’ The Bacchae, both sources for The Lord of Cries. The Bacchae discussion was led by Claudia Hauer, a classic Greek expert on faculty at St. John’s College.

Eugene Onegin, the novel in verse by Alexander Pushkin
Beaumarchais’ play, The Marriage of Figaro, part of his famed trilogy
