About the Las Vegas (NM) Opera Guild
We have had a long history of an Opera Guild here in Las Vegas, NM, as far back as the early 1980's. In 2000, 12 enthusiastic members decided to build and grow the Guild, and due to their efforts and an influx of people to the Las Vegas area who were interested in opera, the Guild grew quickly to over 100 members. The Las Vegas Opera Guild is very active, and we volunteer at various Opera functions such as Preview Dinners, Youth Nights, and Opera Insiders. Many of us attend Opera Southwest performances in Albuquerque as well as the Metropolitan Opera simulcasts and other out of town opera performances. We have fundraisers, educational programs, and social get-togethers, all in our efforts to support the youth development, education, and community programs of The Santa Fe Opera. Join us! Recent Events
The Santa Fe Opera Spring tour presented opera-related events to the Las Vegas community on Saturday, April 27, 2013 and Sunday, April 28, 2013.
At 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 at Charlie's Bakery & Cafe, (aka the Spic and Span), 713/715 Douglas Avenue, Las Vegas, Oliver Prezant presented a family oriented program comparing mariachi and opera music.
At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 at Charlie's Bakery & Cafe (aka the Spic and Span), 713/715 Douglas Avenue, Oliver lectured on the opera which our guild is scheduled to see on August 22, La Traviata.
On Sunday, April 28, at 3:00 p.m. the Spring tour performers appeared at Sala de Madrid, southwest corner of University & 8th Street, on the NMHU campus.
All events are funded by The Santa Fe Opera's Education Department and therefore free of charge.
Please attend and volunteer to be greeters at these venues.

* Urgent: The Las Vegas Guild needs:
2 volunteers to assist with a Tuesday June 25 Youth Night Marriage of Figaro; and
3 volunteers to assist with a Tuesday July 16 Youth Night La Traviata.
You are required to be at the Santa Fe Opera at 7:00 p.m. to get your assignment. You will be given a seat to see the opera's final dress rehearsal and a box lunch.

The Las Vegas Opera Guild is arranging an all inclusive trip to a 2013 Santa Fe Opera production.
WHAT: La Traviata
WHEN: Thursday, August 22, 2013, at 3:00 pm
COST: $50.00 per person includes an opera seat, dinner at Furr's in Santa Fe, and round trip bus transportation to the opera from a yet-to-be-determined Las Vegas location. Transportation costs are funded in part by a Community First Bank grant.
RESERVATIONS: To reserve a space please send a check for $30.00 to Ursel Albers, HC 31 Box 108, Las Vegas NM 87701 at your earliest convenience. The remaining $20.00 will be payable before July 1, 2013.
The $30.00 deposit is non-refundable, but transferable to another party.

News from the November 17 Guilds, Inc. meeting...
The 2012 SFO season came in with $16,000 over budget for the Opera...amazing as the Opera had forecast a small deficit due to mounting 5 new productions. Ticket sales were over 8.2 million dollars, donations amounted to almost $7 million and the remainder came from endowment income. Guilds, Inc. gave the opera $23,500 of which the Las Vegas Guild portion was $3,000. Thanks to guilds and volunteers, the opera received $122,000 generated from preview dinners, backstage tours and youth nights.
The opera is again donating 50 free tickets to be used for any of the three 2013 Youth Nights.
